1-on-1 writing and storytelling coaching for kids.
Unlock your child’s writing and storytelling potential through a fun, engaging, and personalized process.
Why Storytelling?
At Young Author Coaching, we are convinced there is no more influential skill than storytelling. Why? Because humans primarily feel, think, and act according to the stories we believe about ourselves and the world around us. Hearing or reading a compelling story that causes someone to feel or think a certain way often leads to changed behavior. This is the storyteller’s influence, making it an essential life skill for all people.
Through our fun and engaging educational process, we can help unlock your child’s creative writing and storytelling potential, a skill that will serve them and those they influence throughout their lives.
Beyond influence, learning the framework and elements of effective storytelling can also help your child to develop in the following ways:
Confidence
Creativity
Ability to sequence events and connect ideas
Writing skills
Problem-solving skills
Persuasive speaking through storytelling
The Young Author Coaching Process
Our expert Young Author Coach will help your child develop a brand-new story or one your child has already started writing.
Having now published/edited 180+ books through our publishing house, High Bridge Books, we are uniquely equipped to help your child grow as an author.
By the end of our 10-session learning and story development experience, your child will be ready to publish his/her story as a printed book.
Here are some of the learning outcomes your child will experience as he/she develops his/her own original story:
- Who is the main character (i.e., the protagonist), and what is he/she/it trying to achieve? (i.e., the goal)
- What's trying to hinder the main character from getting what he/she/it wants? (i.e., the antagonist)
- Who is telling the story? (i.e., point of view)
- What is this story about? (i.e., plot)
- What happens in each chapter, and how does each chapter advance the plot? (i.e., storyboard)
- How do you want readers to feel as they read your story? (i.e., tone, theme, etc.)
- ... and much more!
Young Author and Parent Testimonials
“The coach I had was super helpful and I am much more confident with my book than I was now that I have gone through training. I know that my book is so much better than it was before my coaching sessions. They were amazing with helping me with all my questions as I wrote the book, and I looked forward to every session.” -Caia S. (12 years old), Author of The Exodus: Through the Eyes of a Young Girl
“My nine-year-old son wrote 1000 words of his story within one day after his second meeting with his Young Author Coach. I’ve never seen him so motivated to finish a story!” -Marie S. (Mother of Solomon S., author of Croc, Hawk, and the Diamond"
